Kyle’s background in athletics along with being surrounded by many great coaches growing up, is what helped grow his passion for health, fitness, and coaching. Once he finished his education in Athletic Training, he felt prepared to begin guiding, coaching, and helping others towards a better life; a life full of health and fitness. In February 2009, Kyle’s good friend and coach, Joe Westerlin, invited him in for a workout at his local gym stating that he has a “new way of working out”, and thought he may enjoy it. Joe also mentioned Kyle would be able to compete, which is the primary reason he started CrossFit. Kyle’s first workout was the Girl WOD Helen. This one workout led Kyle to become a 10x CrossFit Games Athlete and the only CrossFit Games Athlete in the world to have a podium medal in all three divisions: Individual, Team, & Age Group. As a competitor, he has earned 2nd Fittest Team on Earth (2010), 3rd Fittest Man on Earth (2012), 3x North Central Region Champion (2012, 2013, 2014), & 3x Fittest Man on Earth (Age Group 35-39; 2017, 2018, 2021). As a coach, Kyle’s superpower is his ability to understand the body, empathize with members, and hold the standard. Kyle’s favorite Girl WOD is Fran, his favorite Hero WOD is Zembiac, and his favorite movement is Snatch. If he could pick one song as his Official Hype Song, it would be “The Warm-Up” by Rare Breed. Through his accomplishments, Kyle is proud to have learned how to have a true relationship with Jesus Christ, his Lord and Savior, be married to his best friend, Macy, father to his two incredible children, as well as have the opportunity to open the doors to CrossFit Kinesis and serve his community.
